After saying goodbye to my "old" life, I questioned EVERYTHING.
Even today, I still question and don't just accept statements like "that's just how it's done".
Just because it has always been done that way, doesn't mean I have to do it too, especially if it doesn't make me feel good.
When major changes are ahead in your life, it is incredibly important to self-reflect.
Another very important step is taking responsibility. Otherwise, you won't learn and won't go YOUR way. It's YOUR life, don't fall into the victim role.
Gradually, I realized that I was living (without wanting to) the same way my parents and grandparents did. I never thought to question whether it even suited me. It was just the way things were.
How was I supposed to know that there were other ways to live, or that a different way of life would suit my personality better.
It took such a "hefty" break for me to realize and acknowledge it. Before that, I had my eyes closed.
Don't forget, people are individuals. We usually learn from our families and friends. But just because it's your family doesn't mean their way of life suits you. The question is whether they are even happy with their way of life. What's important is that you're happy.
If you're not, then you should change something, free yourself, be brave, and go YOUR way.
You can do it, and you don't have to go through it alone. You can seek help!
